Wayward New Orleans taxi industry faces a fleet of new rules

Mayor Mitch Landrieu is trying to reform the taxicab industry in New Orleans. The overhaul includes mandates such as all cabs must accept credit cards and installing cameras in the cabs so that the drivers are safer. All the new regulations are supposed to be in place before the 2013 Super Bowl.
Other cities, such as Atlanta, have made similar changes in their taxicab industry and benefited very much. The Mayor hopes that these changes will allow for a more efficient and safer taxicab industry in New Orleans for the long-term.
